Do you want to increase your chances of being competitive in your career field after graduation? Do you want to increase your chances of starting with a higher salary? You should definitely consider gaining some hands-on experience during your undergrad!

My mission is to empower students to be active and responsible owners of their hands-on experiences throughout their academic careers.

I aim to accomplish this in the following ways:

  • create a safe space of acceptance, inclusion, and empathy for every student
  • support students with career exploration
  • advise, advocate, and educate students on all of the steps involved in obtaining hands-on experience through an internship, directed research, or preceptorship
  • educate, and encourage students to model the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) 8 Career Competencies that are sought after by employers recruiting college grads. They are Career & Self Development, Critical Thinking, Communication, Equity & Inclusion, Leadership, Professionalism, Teamwork, and Technology.
  • act as a mentor for students throughout their academic careers

As the Experiential Learning Coordinator, I strive to create and foster a positive working relationship with each student meeting you where you are. Through this collaboration I encourage students to take a leadership role in their career goals.

While I am available to assist students, it is the students' responsibility to:

  • make appointments with me
  • search their areas of interest
  • seek out the appropriate contact
  • apply for your hands-on experience
  • complete all the necessary and required documents
  • interview for positions
  • turn in your work plan
  • show up to your scheduled shift every day
  • display professionalism at all times
  • complete all hours required to earn credits within the allotted time frame
  • complete and submit all assignments in any course you are enrolled in associated with their internship, directed research, or preceptorship
