Psychology Member Named Outstanding Transfer Student in Honors College

2024 Graduation Honors College Outstanding Transfer Student

Each semester the W.A. Franke Honors College receives nominations from Franke Honors faculty & staff for graduating seniors who have embodied a spirit of inquiry, pursued their passions, and overcome adversity. This year, Psychology Department student Justin Begay is being recognized with the College's Outstanding Transfer Student award. 

Justin is a member of the Navajo Nation who transferred to the University of Arizona from Mohave Community College and is a first-generation student from a working-class family. He has also been recognized as a McNair Achievement Scholar, a Gilman Scholar a U.S. Navy veteran, and a Udall Scholar for his advocation for underserved populations. 

Justin will enter the PhD program in Educational Psychology at the University of Arizona, strengthening his toolkit for the work he hopes to do in encouraging and mentoring Native American students at the high school and college level.
